CTG Unveils their 2023 Sustainability Report: Impact Through Innovation

A Decade of Growth and Impact

A member of the Chelsea Group family, Committed to Good (CTG) enables social impact by connecting people to purpose in conflict-affected and underserved areas, serving communities that need it most. This August, CTG unveiled their annual Sustainability Report titled Impact Through Innovation – a comprehensive reflection of their ongoing efforts to advance ethical and sustainable business in remarkable ways.

2023 was a landmark year for CTG. Not only did the company sign the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) Anti-Corruption Call to Action and re-trained over 3,500 staff in the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment (PSEAH), but they redefined their company values, entered new regions and launched Assist360 – another member of The Chelsea Group.

A decade into its sustainability journey with the United Nations Global Compact, CTG is committed to advancing Sustainable Development Goals 5, 8 and 16.

The latest steps in CTG’s sustainability journey

From origins in Afghanistan in 2006 to a current network of 25 countries and counting, CTG’s journey has been marked by growth and impact. Supporting clients globally in fragile, conflict-affected countries and disaster environments with specialised recruitment, HR management and operational services, CTG stands at the heart of the development community.

CTG joined the United Nations Global Compact in 2014, the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative. The years that followed have seen CTG’s steadfast commitment to impact and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions). In 2017, CTG launched Female First with the mission to build a more diverse aid and development sector in conflict-affected countries, setting a goal to achieve 30% female representation across their workforce by 2030. In 2022 they reached and exceeded that goal 8 years ahead of time. CTG also launched the first of two Committed to Good Summits in 2018, where multi-sectoral attendees came together to explore ways to collaborate, accelerate and localise the SDGs.

A year of growth

This year saw CTG maintain and grow their presence, expanding into Niger, Burkina Faso, and Saudi Arabia. Now active across 25 countries, CTG employs over 10, 000 staff.

In 2023, CTG ran operations with strong local networks in 25 countries – including new territories, Niger, Burkina Faso and Saudi Arabia.

Introducing Assist360

CTG also launched Assist360, a specialised medical emergency and crisis response company, as an extension of their long-standing Duty of Care efforts. Assist360 provides medical assistance and crisis response in complex and high-risk environments, ensuring these critical services are available not only to CTG staff but to anyone travelling to and working in high-risk regions around the world, 24/7/365.

EPIC values

CTG launched their brand-new EPIC Values: Engage, Pioneer, Improve, Care. Each capturing the shared purpose that drives the company, these values articulate their unique identity and propel their mission forward.

Driving equality with Forward Faster

As part of the UNGC’s Forward Faster initiative towards Gender Equality Action, CTG committed to equal representation, participation and leadership across all levels of management by 2030 and equal pay for work of equal value by 2030.

Preventing sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment

Preventing Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment (PSEAH) in humanitarian operations continued to be a key focus for CTG in 2023. They rolled out additional PSEAH training to 3,500+ staff members and worked closely with clients to implement further prevention controls.

CTG’s Female First initiative aims to develop gender equity and inclusivity in the aid and development sectors.

Shifting the paradigm

In line with their efforts to enhance women’s access to decent work in conflict-affected regions as part of Female First, CTG continued supporting young women through their Women in Aid Internship programme. In 2023, CTG more than doubled its intake of interns in comparison to 2022.

Committed to human rights

CTG was among the first to join the UNGC Business and Human Rights Accelerator, which provided the company with critical tools to identify and mitigate human rights risks. This included completing an extensive Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD) exercise and developing a Human Rights Action Plan to guide future priorities.

Leading private sector action

Advocating for the private sector’s role in advancing the 2030 Agenda remains central to CTG’s mission. At the 2023 UN Private Sector Forum in New York, CTG’s CEO, Alice Laugher, spoke alongside other global business leaders on topics including breaking down barriers to progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 2023 was also the first year that CTG and Assist360 exhibited at AidEx, the world’s leading humanitarian aid and disaster relief event.

2023 demonstrated CTG’s unwavering commitment to sustainability, marking another positive stride in an ongoing process that requires consistent action.
